1. For large and complex steel structure systems, in-situ non-destructive real load tests can be carried out to directly test the structural performance. The real load test of structural performance can be carried out in accordance with the provisions of Appendix H of this standard. The loading coefficient and judgment principle can be determined in accordance with the provisions of Appendix H.2, or they can be adjusted appropriately according to the specific situation.

  2. When there is doubt about the bearing capacity of the structure or component, a prototype or full-scale model load test can be carried out. The test should be entrusted to a specialized institution with sufficient equipment capacity. A detailed test plan should be formulated before the test, including the purpose of the test, the selection or production of the specimen, the loading device, the arrangement of the measuring points and the testing instrument, the loading steps and the evaluation method of the test results. The test plan can be formulated in accordance with Appendix H and should be agreed upon by all parties concerned before the test.

  3. For large, important and new steel structure systems, actual structural dynamic tests should be carried out to determine dynamic parameters such as the structural natural vibration period. The structural dynamic test should comply with the provisions of Appendix E of this standard.

  4. The stress of steel structure rods can be detected by using resistance strain gauges or other effective methods according to actual conditions.

In modern steel structure buildings, many well-known buildings use steel structure as their building framework, such as the Bird's Nest is a typical example.
